Wang Qi, director of the Institute of Solid Waste Pollution Control Technology of the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences, said: "Batteries used as hazardous waste management include mercury oxide batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries and lead-acid batteries. Mercury oxide batteries have been banned from production and are obsolete products. Nickel-cadmium batteries have been gradually replaced for performance reasons, and are rarely seen in the civil market.
