Mixing the solution with various carbonates provides higher conductivity and extends the temperature range. Other salts can be added to reduce deflation and improve high temperature cycling. Lithium ion batteries with gel electrolytes accept many additives to improve conductivity, as do lithium polymer batteries. True dry polymers become electrically conductive only at high temperatures and the battery is no longer used for commercial purposes. Additives are also applied to achieve longevity and unique characteristics. Formulas are classified and each manufacturer has its own recipe method.
