5. Self-Discharge

According to a recent report, nickel-cadmium batteries have a higher rate of self-discharge than high discharge rate lithium ion battery. NiCad batteries will need to be recharged if they have full energy storage but are idle without use for several months. Lithium-ion batteries on the other hand, can go unused for several months before they begin self-discharging.

6. Voltage

Normally, lithium-ion batteries operate at higher voltages compared to nickel-cadmium batteries. 3.7 volt lithium battery is a typically used in daily use and a nickel-cadmium battery operates at 1.2 volts.
