Ouyang Minggao, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of Tsinghua University, analyzed the obstacles and future challenges faced by new energy vehicles from the perspective of technology and policy at the Teda International Forum on the Development of China's Automobile Industry held on September 1.
Ouyang Minggao firmly believes that from a technical point of view, inexpensive rechargeable lithium ion polymer battery is the most suitable alternative to gasoline energy at this stage. And throughout the international automobile market, the vast majority of automobile companies are transforming to pure electric aspects. "What should China's choice be? First of all, we should strengthen the advantages and characteristics of China's electrified transportation. The technological path is to take the lead in pure electric power as a breakthrough, first expand the battery industry and industrialize pure electric power.
In order to solve the problem of mileage anxiety of pure electric vehicles, the technical need of power batteries is to take the lead in breaking through the increase of specific energy and the sharp decrease of cost. If only lithium iron phosphate rechargeable battery is used for electric vehicle, the cost of the whole life cycle can be very close to that of fuel vehicles.
However, in terms of the current demand for high specific energy for passenger cars, ternary lithium batteries can be a better choice in performance, but the high prices of precious metals and non-ferrous metals in their raw materials are still a solid barrier to the development of electric vehicles. In addition, the long mileage is a serious problem, which is also a common problem of pure electric vehicles.
On these issues, Ouyang Minggao said: "Thanks to the fiscal subsidy policy, we should be very proud to say that this is the first time that China has taken the lead in introducing large-scale high-end consumer goods globally." At the same time, the mainstream products continue to upgrade, driving mileage gradually increased, but also to enhance the market competitiveness of pure electric vehicles.
Ouyang Minggao pointed out that the biggest risk faced by pure electric vehicles is the safety of lifepo4 lithium iron phosphate battery packs. Nowadays, policies and regulations have not formulated corresponding annual inspection system for electric vehicles, which is a big problem.
"In the near future, you may often receive video of electric vehicle fire on Wechat. Although some of our enterprises like fire engines have removed the video, it still flows out, which should arouse our high attention."
At the same time, Ouyang Minggao believes that if we want to effectively boost the new energy market, it is still not enough to rely on double points at this stage. "I went abroad this time and found that there was a carbon tax in people's fuel. Then I asked my students to collect carbon tax in fuel from all over the world. I think this may be a way."
In Ouyang Minggao's view, adhere to the pure electric drive technology line unshakable, promote the breakthrough of pure electric performance-price ratio level is the core line of the development of new energy vehicles. He predicts that by 2030, China's electric vehicle ownership will reach 40% to 50%, and the number will be 80 million to 100 million.
