The battery system has the advantages of high energy density, safety, recyclability, environmental protection and pollution-free. However, due to the low activity of manganese oxide catalysts, the high polarization resistance of air cathode, the serious self-corrosion of hydrogen evolution from anode aluminum, the difficulty of thermal control and the difficulty of secondary start-up, the industrialization of aluminium fuel cells has been progressing slowly.
Last year, through four years of painstaking research, the team achieved a breakthrough from "0 to 1", and developed a 1000-watt graphene-aluminum fuel cell power generation system with rated power. However, at present, the rated power of some standby power supply of communication base stations and military equipment in our country is generally about 3000 watts, so the application of this system encounters bottlenecks.
"Can not become a product, and cool high-tech is just a legend." The R&D team joined the R&D team of Zhejiang Graphene Manufacturing Innovation Center to vigorously promote the process development and engineering prototype development of aluminum fuel cells. After another year's research and development, the "2.0" version of aluminium fuel cell with a wider application scenario finally came out.
The test results show that the energy density of the battery is 545Wh/kg, the capacity is 130kWh, the discharge power of 50A current can reach 3000W, and the peak power is expected to reach 4800W.
Because its rated power is in line with the power demand of most base stations in China, it can directly replace the traditional standby power supply without changing the original equipment. It has wide application prospects in smart grid, base station standby power supply, island power supply, military facilities standby power supply and electric vehicle extender.
"Due to power constraints, the current aluminum fuel cell is still unable to replace the current new energy vehicle power battery, especially the acceleration, climbing performance can not keep up with." Xue Yejian said.
Next, the team will improve the battery performance and strive to develop a power supply system with rated power of more than 15 kilowatt to install more environmentally friendly and safe power sources for urban sweepers and vans.
